The Anchorage Daily News has reported that state appropriations for Civil Air Patrol’s Alaska Wing will be eradicated. That’s a wise savings of $453,000.

Gov. Mike Dunleavy had warned Alaskans that his proposed budget cuts would affect every Alaskan, and an initial look at details offered by the Office of Management and Budget reveals the truth of that statement.

Dunleavy’s budget cancels a proposed raise for Alaska State Troopers and cuts $3 million in funding for the Village Public Safety Officer program.

As non-essential services, funding for Alaska Wing Civil Air Patrol is proposed to be eliminated entirely.
